SOUTH VALLEY
The South Valley is where long-established neighborhoods, local culture, mountain trails and new growth meet. Stretching south of Central Phoenix, this part of the metro includes communities with distinct histories, personalities and ways of life—all connected by a strong sense of local pride.
South Phoenix and the South Central Corridor offer deep cultural roots, locally owned businesses and convenient access to Downtown Phoenix. South Mountain neighborhoods place residents close to one of the Valley’s defining natural landmarks, while the Baseline Corridor connects established communities with shopping, dining and everyday essentials.
Laveen blends agricultural history with expanding residential development. Ahwatukee Foothills feels tucked away behind South Mountain, with established neighborhoods, desert views and direct access to major highways. Guadalupe is an independent town with a cultural identity and history all its own.
The communities may share a region, but they do not offer the same experience. PHX Mags helps you understand those differences before deciding where to explore next.
People are drawn to the South Valley for its access to Downtown Phoenix, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and some of the metro area’s most recognizable desert landscapes.
Some want an established neighborhood close to the city. Others are looking for newer development, more space or easier access to trails. Longtime residents, local entrepreneurs and newcomers all contribute to a region that continues to grow while holding onto its community identity.
